I came across this artist during my research. I have to make intricate furniture and miniatures for my stop motion, and I’ve realised that they could be considered art objects in themselves.
There are so many technical elements involved n stop motion animation. I have used so many different mediums and forms of making. This artist has made me wonder weather I should display the set and props as art objects as well.
Most of the set will be made from cardboard and glue and will be painted. But for some things eg. The Ferris wheel I used wire.
These are the final plans for the wooden part of the sets. The living room requires walls so is four parts, the fun fair I just needed a floor. After measuring the pieces, it was just a case of sawing and screwing them together.
So this story involves two characters, and two sets. My original monster, and a new character ‘Ingrid’. The first set is Ingrid’s living room where she will be watching my original animation ‘I miss you’, when the signature black paint appears the scene will change to a funfair. This is a rough story board because with my original animation, the best scenes were improvised. I’m excited to start building the set!
Because I am exploring storytelling, I was planning on making multiple different pieces in different mediums to explore the vast number of ways a story can be told. However, because I am working to deadlines, not to mention the quantity of work I would be producing; I have decided not to do that.
Instead, I will use knowledge from my research into other mediums, and means of story telling to inform one piece. I have decided this piece will be another stop motion animation. Since I have experience working in this way, and already know it’s affectability, this seems like the best route to take. I will use my first animation as reference to iron out bugs, as well as reusing successful aspects.
I deeply enjoy making animations and I feel like the final result will show that.
This was a question I was asked the other day. My answer; death is one of the only thing left we don’t have the answer to, and maybe the only thing that we never will.
Entire religions and belief systems have been built around theories of the afterlife. I find it fascinating learning about people’s different ideas and beliefs-despite the fact that no one has any proof of anything.
I may explore this further in my next piece.
This is the conclusion of my photography project. Here I am exploring storytelling using the concept of death.
